Bijlsma is aware of its influence on the environment. The production of foils does not only cost energy and raw materials, but unfortunately also contributes to the waste dump. This is why Bijlsma is unrolling a program aiming for an active contribution to diminish this waste dump. A program that is connected to all previous initiatives with this goal. We strive to minimize the ecological footprint, within every step of the production and distribution chain.
Bijlsma Group is a driver of downgauging if it is technically possible. After all, the benefits for the customer and the environment are endless. By using innovative recipes, enormous savings can still be achieved with the same, or even improved, properties. The use of thinner films means less material costs per packaging, less raw material consumption and waste, more meters on the roll and therefore also positive effects on machine downtime, transport, storage and natural energy consumption. Thinner films of as much as 50% are no exception. This method of production has positive consequences for people and the environment, which is important for us.
Bijlsma is convinced that we are a better company if we work together with our partners, customers and employees to create a better world. We are constantly looking for sustainable solutions, investments and initiatives. We want to create sustainable value for our customers, stakeholders and society as a whole. This is expressed, among other things, in the use of green energy in the production of our products. For example; recently, an enormous number of solar panels have been installed at our partners production locations.
CSR has been part of the standards and values of Bijlsma for many years, but to make this clear, Bijlsma has selected her partners based on its ISO 26000 guideline. This international guideline makes it possible to integrate CSR into working methods and procedures in a demonstrable way. The ISO 26000 guideline is a well-founded umbrella for CSR initiatives to which Bijlsma has obliged her partners to be connected too. In addition to formally implementing the ISO 26000 directive, Bijlsma’s partners also does so in a practical manner by means of a so-called “self-declaration”. This self-declaration and its reference matrix shall be drawn up in accordance with the NPR 9026+C1, these are available on request.
